Davids 1 year old measurements. August 20th, 2008

Wednesday August 20th, 2008- Today has been a busy day not only did we visit the allergist but we also visited David's pediatrician for his 1year old appointment and two shots. These are David's Stats:

Weight: 20.6 lbs (25%)

Height: 29 1/4 inches (50%)

Head Circ.: 46cm (50%)

As you see from Davids stats he is a pretty average size boy. He has lost weight from his last appointment thought. The pediatrician says that is normal once babies start walking around, which David is doing. He is our little busy boy.

David's visit to the Allergist. 8-20-08

Wednesday August 20th, 2008- We we went to the allergist today and had David tested. Bryan was sweet and took a few hours off work to come with us. Poor little David is allergic to peanuts. He is also a little allergic to eggs. We were told by Dr. Palmer (the allergist) that we need to keep David completely away from peanuts. Since I am breast feeding still I also need to stay away from peanuts. We are also not suppose to give David straight eggs. We are fine giving him things with eggs in it but, we need to stay away from giving him eggs on their own.
I bet you are wondering how the test was given. They have a tray with 6 different things that children could be allergic to. they also put a histamine on the bottom to make sure the test worked. They stick it into his skin and wait 10min. We gave David a succor during the 10 min to keep him from scratching his back or trying to run around. He did great and was pretty well behaved. After the 10 min was over they come back in and look at the areas. the two top areas as you can see is what he was allergic to. Dr. Palmer says that children with egg allergies almost always grow out of them. He also said only 20% of children with peanut allergies grow out of them. Children who get the peanut allergy at a younger age are normally more likely to be in the 20% that grow out of the allergy. So David could grow out of both allergies which would be great. Until then we just want every one to be aware that when David's around the peanuts need to stay away.

These pictures are of David eating his small grape succor at the Dr.s office. He made a mess but loved the treat.

Tuesday August 20th, 2008- We did not plant much of a garden this year. We planted two tomato plants and two pepper plants. We have gotten a few tomatoes and these banana peppers and green peppers. I am glad we have some fresh veggies. Next year hopefully we will be able to plant some more.
I dropped an ice cube on the floor and David was quick to pick it up. He stuck it in his mouth and then spit it out. I decided to give it back to him. The ice entertained him for about 10min. It was so cute.

This week David has picked up a new skill. He has learned to open all my drawers and cupboards. Here he is helping Mom clean out the cupboard. How sweet of David to help Mommy.

August 12-17, 2008 Grandma Olsen is in town

Sunday August 17th, 2008- Sheri invited us to dinner at her house again today. Her kitchen is almost done with being remodeled. She is just waiting on the new stove to come in. So until then she is using the microwave and cock pot to cook. We had a roast, potatoes and carrots for dinner. I brought brownies for dessert and we had a very nice meal. We enjoyed the fresh tomatoes from Von's garden also for dinner. On our way home we stopped and visited my parents. Scot and Amanda and there 7 children were there getting ready to leave. It was nice to see them. We brought the left over brownies and my parents and Scott and Amanda's family were able to enjoy them. We enjoyed the visit.

Saturday August 16th, 2008- Bryan got up early and went to the gym. I cleaned the inside of the house, while Bryan and David mowed the lawn. It is so nice to be home and get Saturday chores done. Grandma Olsen is in town for Maren (Bryan's 2nd cousins) wedding reception. Bryan, David and I got to eat dinner with Von, Sheri, and Grandma Olsen. Sheri fixed hamburgers. We then all went to Maren's wedding together. We were a little squished in our car but fit for the short drive to Meridian for the reception. It was a very pretty reception held outside in Maren's husbands parent back yard. It was great seeing extended family we have not seen in a while. David loved running around on the grass. He kept wanting to play in the water fountain that was their. We had a great evening.

Friday August 15th, 2008- I went into Boise today and met Amanda and her 7 children at the YMCA. We had fun swimming and playing in the pool. David loves the water and thinks he is so cool letting go of Mom and walking all over in the swimming pool. I have to be on top of it cause he still falls straight forward into the water when he looses his balance. We had a lot of fun. David and I left Boise and headed home around 2:45pm. We went home showered and put David down for a nap. I also set up golfing tonight with Scott and Amanda at Eagle Hills golf course. My Mom was super sweet and watched David for 2 1/2 hours while we golfed. Bryan nor I golfed very well and desided we need some time on the driving range to practise.

Kyle did a back flip off the diving board for the 1st time. I tried to get a picture but it did not turn out real well as you can see.

Wednesday August 13th, 2008- During the day today I made ravioli Lasagna for my freezer meal group exchange that will happen tomorrow. I made 5 pans and we had some for dinner tonight. David and Bryan really like the lasagna as you can see in this picture. I also went to the YW/YM combined water activity at the church. When I got home Bryan and David were having fun playing on the floor. I love seeing then laughing together. Bryan is such a good Dad.

Tuesday August 12th, 2008- Bryan has joined the Kiwanis's club here in Caldwell. Each year the club puts on a chuck wagon dinner and serves lots and lots of people before the Caldwell night rodeo starts each day for 1 week. It is done on the Alberson's Collage campus. They serve BBQ pull pork sandwiches, salad, a potato of some kind and all you can eat corn, a piece of cake for dessert and a drink of your choice. It is $8 to eat and the money is worth it. The corn is the best part of the meal. It is freshly picked locally each morning. It is shucked, buttered and wrapped in tin foil and then delivered to the Kiwanis's club. It is also all donated. Bryan signed up to help serve today. David and I met him at the dinner and spent from 5:30- 8:00 helping serve. It was a great experience. David was a great little boy in the backpack. After serving we got to eat also. The food was great. I told Bryan that we will have to help again next year.

Saturday August 9th, 2008- Bryan and I both got a nap in today. We have a fun day relaxing, talking and playing card games. We helped make the french toast breakfast this morning, and appreciated Sheri watching David while we did. We at dinner of pasta bar and then left for home. We came with Von and Sheri and Von had to be back in Boise for his Sunday Bishop rick responsibilities. David did pretty good in the truck on the way home. We arrived home in Caldwell Around 11:30pm. Von & Sheri were nice enough to just let us take there tuck home to our house. Sheri will come out to Caldwell for dinner and switch us vehicles. Von will not be able to come to dinner on Sunday because of meeting but we will send Sheri home with food for him.

Before we left on Saturday family pictures were taken.
All 11 of Grandma Sorenson's Children were there. I would name them all but I do not think I can. There ended up being 94 people at the Reunion. Not every on was able to come but the group we had was great.

Shawn, Laurie, Bryan, Sheri, Von, Gina, David, Evelyn, Lidia, and Felicity. (Our immediate family. We are only missing Brent Andrea and Taryn).

Our little family picture.

In side the Reunion cabin/house there was a great big room where David just enjoyed walking and roaming around.

Friday August 8th, 2008- We had a great time at the park today. Bryan went golfing with some of his cousins and uncles and then met us at the park. We play some fun games & enjoyed lunch and a dutch oven dinner there. Some of the games that were played were a donut eating contest, Water balloon toss, Sponge and water game, rolling a ball with your nose relay, bubble gum blowing contest, and the three legged race. Some of the older guys also played 10,000 with the foot ball and a little softball. Then we went back to the Reunion house and had a great sing along. I think Rex put the Reunion on this year and did a great job. He even made some sing a long books so we all could sing along. It was a great night. We stayed up until around 12:00am singing.

The older cousins playing 10,000 with the football. Bryan said he was playing just to push his cousins around and make it difficult for them to catch the ball. He had no intention of trying to catch the ball himself.

In the park they had this cool tree. David and Bryan had fun walking under it. David thought he was Tarzan.

The children got to do paper mache around balloons. Landon (Bryan's cousin Lisle's Son) got some on his face.

David playing at the park.

Zack and Gina during the 3 legged race. We almost won but fell right before the finish line. We had fun though.

Heidi(Bryan's cousin) & Gina during the bubble blowing contest.

Grandpa Von put his hat on David. David did not keep it on long. Sweet Grandma let David snuggle on her lap while I played some games.

During the games the adults had to paired with a child. I was paired with Zack Zito(?) (Bryan's cousin Lisel's son) We did pretty good on the water balloon tossing contest. Zack is 6 I think.

David and Grandma had fun watching the games.

It was a hoot to watch every one try to role the small ball with their nose.

Quiet a few people tried the dounut eating contest. I took pictures instead of trying the donuts.

I was lucky and David took a short nap while we were at the park Friday. He only slept about a 1/2 hour. Still I was greatful.

Thursday August 7th, 2008- Sheri was sweet and watched David while Bryan and I went into Logan and played 18 holes of golf. Logan is about 10- 15 min from were we are staying for the reuion. It took us 4 hours to golf the 18 holes. We lost a lot of ball but had a fun time.

Friday moring at reuion they served some wonderful variaty of fruit, yogurt, granola, and cereal. David loved the variety. Look at his face. He really ENJOYED his breakfast.

David did great at the reuion. David woke up early every moring. 6:30am was his wake up time. This is our tent set up. Each morning we would let David play in the tent while we layed down for an extra 1/2 hour.

Wednesday August 13th, 2008- David and I spent the morning packing. Bryan took a 1/2 day of today so we could can leave for the family reuion in Utah. We a traveling with Von and Sheri. Von has been at Scout camp this week and we will leave as soon as he gets back. When Bryan got home from work I had the Tahoe packed and ready to go. We ate lunch and then headed into Boise. Bryan mowed his parents yard so Von would not have to worry about it once he got home from scout camp. Von got back from scout camp around 4:15. Bryan helped Von on-load the truck and we reloaded it with all of our stuff for reuion. We left for Utah around 5:30pm. We stopped and did a few geo-cashes on or way. We also stopped for dinner at Wendy's . Mom Sorenson (Sheri) was nice enough to buy our dinner. We arrived at Paradise Springs retreat in Utah around 11:00. The reuion does not start officially until Thursday evening so Bryan, David and I were lucky enough to get to sleep inside on a bed. The rest of the reuion we will be ouside in our tent. Only the first generation will get there own bedroom with a bathroom inside. When we arrived Rex and his family were there and Robert and Julie and some of there children were there. Every one else will be ariving some time tomarrow.

Tuesday August 5th, 2008- I mowed the lawn with David on my back so we could go play when Bryan got home. I got a baby sitter (Emily Corder (17)) and set up golfing with Kimber & Mike, Scott & Amanda and Bryan & I. We golfed in Caldwell at the Fairview golf course. We did 2 groups. The guys in one group and the girls in the other. We had a lot of fun. Then we came back to my house and had fish sticks, french fries, cantalope, pasta salad & chicken nuggets. Amanda was sweet and brought the canalope and pasta salad. We also played Bochie ball in the back yard. It was a fun game. It was great to spend some quality time with kimber and Mike while they were here. We also enjoyd the time with Scott and Amanda. It was great!!
